Located in the Ostia district, along Rome’s seafront, the Ugo Foscolo Institute has been active in education since 1997 and obtained official accreditation as an Artistic High School in 2016.
Students can choose from three specializations: Figurative Arts, Graphics, and Fashion Design. The Fashion Design track focuses on building a solid fashion culture through specific subjects. The curriculum includes theoretical courses like costume history and the history of fashion design, which offer a cultural and aesthetic foundation, as well as practical and semi-practical subjects. These include design project development—helping students express their worldview through clothing sketches—and hands-on lab work, which teaches textile culture, pattern-making, and tailoring, culminating in the creation of a prototype garment designed by the students. The five-year course leads to a secondary school diploma.
The institute also offers post-diploma annual courses in Fashion Design, tailoring, and pattern-making, culminating in the creation of a mini collection inspired by a well-known brand. These programs are aimed at tomorrow’s talents, equipping them with the tools to turn their dreams into a career. All courses include expert talks and internships in collaboration with a fashion academy.
