Francesca De Nardi

I am a senior with a multifaceted and complete 360° background in the fashion/costume/research/decoration/travel sectors through internal and external experiences in companies, now above all in the immediate and fast analysis from style to product, of markets and their study to unite the customer's needs with the target of possible sales through trade fairs, fashion weeks and related events.

I started this journey when the Chamber of Fashion resided in Rome and the capital was the hub of fashion shows, fairs and networking.

Training

I attended the Costume and Fashion Academy, winning fabric design competitions from the first year, 1986, continuing to create fashion illustration drawings & historical stage costumes, strictly by hand.

Together I continued my university studies at Sapienza with a focus on entertainment disciplines with a course of study chosen ad hoc between theater, cinema, TV, minor arts, combining the same subjects as the academy.

During this period between one degree and another and the various production jobs between companies, shops and private individuals with wedding and evening dresses and swimsuits since 1992, I became a wall decorator at the Academy of the Superfluous with a course in the region Lazio region for several months, learning the decoration techniques to be applied to all surfaces and immediately put into practice with the opening of my studio in 1992 on the Aventine.

Transforming a cellar/shelter from the Second World War into my atelier studio, hand-painted on the walls, floor and ceiling, restoring furniture to virgin condition and decorating with stencils, trompe d'oil, grisaille, painted textile decorations and gilding.
Work background

Then collaborating with brands such as La Perla, Furla, Zegna Baruffa, La Cicogna, Missoni, Braccialini, Swarovski and many other foreign brands such as Victoria Secret, Donna Karan, Roxy Quicksilver.

From collection design, with concept creation and moodboard creation, to the research of materials and accessories, from the study of the design from the paper pattern to the supervision of the finished product through outsourced suppliers and its distribution, to the creation of the event from the fashion show to the static and its promotion.

In the academy, teachers such as Mr Grundling, marketing, the journalist Bianca Maria Piccinino, press & communication, Prof. Selmo and his assistant, I also draw freehand and Roberto Sgarlata, knitwear fashion designer, transmitted, followed and immediately gave me confidence by putting into practice the from the first year the skills acquired by supporting them in exhibition and fashion show projects, I creating some and they selling guests to present. Learning to manage various situations, teams quickly deciding on the best solution by creating press releases, photographs and design

Path started by working in various small/medium brands, shops or private individuals or companies such as Rai, already in the first year of the academy and concluded the last year with the award ceremony and choice by the Missoni maison, to design the entire fashion show collection in Milan, in the Sumirago offices in 3 months, paid per week + benefits (food, accommodation, travel, company car)

As well as starting immediately to create one-size-fits-all dresses, evening wear, knitwear and beachwear, giving work to over 10 roan workshops and then scattered throughout Italy and abroad

Among the models on the catwalk in Milan in 1991 was the famous Pat Cleveland

From Rosita Missoni's choice to design the entire collection, including accessories, for the brand I began a very intense journey not only nationally but also overseas, from 1994 onwards starting from NY and arriving in Hawaii.

Updating and in-depth knowledge of the markets through constant participation in sector trade fairs over the years, trade fairs, fashion shows, events not only in Italy but also abroad. Markets such as the United States, Northern Europe, Baltic and Islamic countries. starting from pitti filati in 1987 when I was still at the academy.

Analysis and verification of new trends and points of sale in the main Italian and foreign cities

Outsourcing of Italian/foreign suppliers and producers for small and large productions.

Supervision of production processes and related organization times.

Study and design of collection lines, choice of colors and fibres, as well as analysis of fashion trends and purchasing criteria

Marketing research reports as technical press at official and non-official trade fairs, events and fashion weeks.

Evaluable collaborations as external/internal consultant, both in Italy and abroad. Consultancy in the design of collection lines and flash, prototype supervision, sampling and mass production, style-refreshing brand image, research for new materials and new suppliers for buying office services and as account sponsors.

While away I create trade fair and marketing progress reports and accompany clients to the fair, combining the aspect of technical stylistic consultancy with that of public relations and interpreting as well as fashion tours where I accompany clients.

Numerous trips combined with eclectic work situations have allowed the acquisition of perfect management of situations such as problem solving and an excellent command of the language.

Excellent organizational skills to optimize time, combined with a natural predisposition for public relations. Consultancy in the entertainment environment as costume designer, stylist and image designer for dressing television situations or characters.

Strong sensitivity to the coordination of collections and Artistic Direction, willing to undertake tasks subordinate to the exclusivity of the relationship.

Many of these skills are due to the responsibilities soon assumed in the creation of a personal line "designed by...francesca de nardi" concentrated on prototype capsule collections from evening to bridal, to casual and beachwear, including knitwear fabric for men, women and children. Immediately presented in the first sector fairs through the fashion circuits from 1990 onwards, between Rome, Florence and Milan and then abroad, with the related productions for brand and private shops between Italy and abroad. Creation and production that developed in parallel with my career as a freelancer for companies.

I am regularly invited to every new initiative and event or workshop opening.

I am present in the databases of companies, professional registers of fashion weeks and places where I have had the pleasure of working and attending abroad from 1994 onwards, between America, Europe and Asia, and also where I am regularly invited to fashion weeks and go where possible.

Online and on social media

I learned to use the net in America in NY in 1994, while working for DIMITRI couture. How to do research, email, introduce yourself, fit into portal contexts, network, staying in touch with everyone.

My stay in the United States, which continued for years, opened my horizons to facets of work that did not yet exist in Italy, such as personal shopper, image consultant, tour designer, accompanying clients with explanations of the sector that I have immediately put into practice in the tourism sector

In 1998 I created my first site, naming it with my acronym FDNFASHION.COM and I have never stopped from there. They have been on social media since 2007, linking them together everywhere, although with the vicissitudes that occurred during COVID and post-COVID, the strongest network that is created is and remains that of word of mouth
