Caliga is a training project focused on leather goods and pattern making, based on a workshop approach with a strong technical-practical orientation. Its goal is to pass on hands-on knowledge to create finished leather products such as bags, clutches, wallets, shoes, and more.
The idea of opening Caliga, a training center dedicated to leather craftsmanship, was born from the experience of Lolli Macchine, a company with over 50 years of expertise in selling leather machinery. Visiting factory after factory, company after company, we realized that training in leather product creation is almost nonexistent, while the market increasingly demands such professionals. Caliga was created with this practical orientation in mind, aiming to train skilled professionals sought after by companies and the industry.
Caliga guarantees high-quality training: the instructors are experienced leather artisans who have worked for companies serving top Made in Italy luxury fashion brands. Their know-how is invaluable, as is the opportunity to train on professional machines rarely found in other training settings.
Courses are held in person with small groups of no more than 6 or 7 participants to ensure the best possible hands-on learning experience. They are open not only to fashion school graduates but to anyone who wants to learn how to make a leather bag or accessory, experiment with new techniques, or turn a hobby into a profession by creating their own brand or collection.
The decision to open this training center in Rome—unique in terms of course type and teaching quality—also stems from a desire to create a virtuous system, both for participating companies and for local production. Many independent brands are emerging today, and Caliga aims to support them.
With the launch of Caliga, we want to spark a virtuous process that, starting with training, supports and stimulates the growth of professionals, artisans, and small brands, building a future vision for quality leather craftsmanship in Rome and the surrounding region.
